Corona Heritage Park & Museum (map)
Join me and the pupsters for this AVA walk.
American Volksport Association is an organization that promotes exercise and fitness through non-competitive volksporting event. The AVA's network of 305 Walking Clubs organize more than 3,000 walking events as well as occasional bikes, skis, and swims every year in most of our 50 states. All events are open to the public. http://www.ava.org/...
Our local club is the Low Desert Roadrunners. They organize these walks.
If you want to walk as a group with me, we will be walking on Saturday, starting at 9am. The group walk will be the 5k walk. But if you feel like doing the 10k walk instead, feel free to do so. If you feel like walking another day or time, see the information below.
Each participant will have to fill out a card for the AVA prior to the walk. They use the card to check you back in when you return, to verify you got the checkpoint question right and to make sure you return from the walk ok (and they don't have to look for you).
I walk for free, but donate $3 to the club to help defray their costs for organizing it. If you are interested in the AVA New Walker program http://www.ava.org/Wh... and walking for credit, they can explain that too.
Please arrive a few minutes early so that you can fill out the participant card and be ready to start walking at 9am. If you want to hear about the New Walker program, you will need to arrive even earlier. We will leave promptly at 9am.
Please note: Not all AVA walks allow pets. The event will indicate whether they are allowed. Of course, any event that I post will allow pets. Dogs must be leashed. And picking up after them is mandatory. Usually there will be a communal doggy water bowl provided by the club putting this on.
The event will also indicate the difficulty for strollers.
These walks can get quite warm. I always bring water for me and the pupster.
